Anxiety

As if the money worries weren't enough, Tane's injured.

He's only using one leg.
I had wondered while he was flickering his wings a lot: it was for balance. The other leg has not come off, and he can move it, so the issue is either the lower leg or the foot.
At first I was convinced that it was the cat's fault, and when the cat showed up, Tane made a point of perching above the feline and alarming. I hissed the cat away and he sang up there, on his one leg.
When I saw him front on though, I reconsidered. Maybe this was down to a fight?

Has his face been pecked? It looks like it. And this angle shows something sticking up. Presumably a feather.

The day before, while I was standing at the back of the garden, he came back and forth repeatedly, non stop. And I wondered if he was using me as a human shield. Maybe he knows I will keep next door's robin away. I wonder why he is so much in need of eating here at the moment?
The whole thing has left me anxious, though I know birds can manage with one leg.
Best Wishes to Tane. May he get better soon. xx
