Gamboro Plantation?

I met a lady walking today - she had an 11 year old Viszla, I was running and had no dog - and she told me that the place was called Gamboro Plantation. I checked out the map and it's not actually where the photo was taken nor where I met the woman, but a little wood at the top of the hill.

I tried to find out more, but the trail went dead.

Further up the hill one way is Blueberry Lodge, the other way Hanging Houghton - the village of Hanging Houghton hangs above a steep(ish) hill. There's Maidwell and Lamport and Brixworth close by. Spratton, Teeton and Creaton run up another road - they sound like a firm of country solicitors. There's a village called Old, near Walgrave.

I used to live in Chapel Brampton, which is next to Church Brampton. The latter has a church, but I never found the chapel.

Holdenby always sounds cozy, while Scaldwell sounds mean. Coton Manor and Cottesbrooke Hall are not far apart but are very different. Oh and who would want to live in Cold Ashby or Ravensthorpe?

Althorpe (ancestral home of the Spencers, where Princess Diana is buried) is pronounced Altrupp by the gentry. They stole land from the common folk during the Sixteenth Century... oh, what was it called? When they fenced off all the commons? Thomas Cromwell was opposed to it, but the landed gentry had their way.

All this land, which belongs to either the Lamport or Cottesbrooke estates was probably once ours. It still feels like mine. Even if I can only run there.
