The day before I flew, I visited all the crows. Didn't see Four or the Playgrounds. The Divines had Dark Wing and White Wing with them.
Still some harrassment.
I think the parents want all I give for themselves!!
Then I drove to Addenbrookes to see my father. I can't talk about that. It's painful.
But on the way I saw seven small raptors - I think all were kestrels - and eight large ones, roosting. The large ones may have been sparrowhawks or buzzards, maybe even kites. It's hard to tell from a moving car. It felt very strange to see so many on one journey. Also flocks of pigeons, rooks and what may have been fieldfares or redwings. On the way home, a murmuration of starlings.
Each sighting left me with a sense of the uncanny.
The raptors, especially the roosting ones on the side of the A14 and M11 seemed to be there for my benefit. I know, I know, that's silly. But there were so many.
I didn't want to go. I didn't want to go.
