...CC has celebrated her birthday.
And in honour of that occasion I thought it might be cool to recall a couple of our shared projects.
At one point, we both listened to John Betts' Jung Podcast. What's funny about this is that it was before either of us know what podcasts were. I used to download them like song tracks, albeit long song tracks, and listen to them on my iPod. I think. Or maybe I put them on rewritable CDs. Anyway, this encouraged us to read about Jung and read Jung and read fairy tales and symbol dictionaries.
We had an online file where we recorded our dreams and interpreted each other's dreams. but what happens when you start to write down your dreams is that your brain bothers to remember your dreams so in a few weeks we were writing War and Peace every day and then analysing it. I recall trying lucid dreaming.
I did love John's lectures, though I can't remember much of them now.
At other times we did a poem a day for a month together. This was fun. I think there were prompts, but whatever the case it was a big commitment. Yet, again, like recalling dreams each day, when you write a poem a day somehow it's like it unlocks mental blocks or creativity chains and things start to open up inside. Not necessarily that mine were good, but that they came and it felt like an achievement. I never would have done it without CC. It happened because we did it together.
There was another project: CC helped me to edit and prepare my short stories when I got a chance to publish them as part of some arts scheme. She was my collaborator and supporter.
What this brings home to me is how much we are dependent upon others for things that deeply matter. We don't just do things with people; we do them because of or by virtue of or thanks to other people. There are these invisible, intangible struts around aspects of ourselves and those struts are our reliance upon certain others.
These special others, like CC for me, help us create ourselves. they are the scaffolding for our souls.
Thanks so much for this post dear Crone xx
