I'm wondering if this place has become a special place. For me. It is a plantation. The Poplars (if they are Poplars) are planted in rows. There are pheasant feeders. But no 'management'. No coppicing or laying.
There are old trees - like the one I submitted to the Woodland Trust list. And like this one - from which the broken branch has fallen. Which provide homes.
The branch that had fallen was trying to come into bud - but I think that its time may have passed. Another Ash, I think, to strike off the list of potentially resistant trees.
And yet, in its fallen limbs, insects and spiders will be making their living.
And above, the birds sing.
