The Young Vic was my destination. The play starred Anne Marie Duff, who was excellent. Though the first review I looked at (just now) was rather scathing about the production. I didn't think it was one of my top tens, but was one of the better things I've seen since Covid. It can't compare with the dance thing I saw or Oedipus, but it was good.
What seemed serendipitous was the reference to foxes as I am acting on their behalf later in the week.
It was good to be in London. I do love the city. I have a strange sense of pride in London. And I saw an urban squirrel outside the theatre.
After the play, I walked from the theatre to Bond Street, which involved an uncomfortable detour via Oxford Street which was less pleasant. I always love the Thames when the lights come on.
And this was on the side of the Royal Festival Hall. It actually starts as a bud, opens out, and then goes back to a bud. Very pretty.
So, on the whole, a good day, and I wrapped it up with a visit to my dear friend Julia, who fed me vegetables, hummus, and the best blueberries I have ever tasted.
