I love how Divo runs up to me as soon as he sees me and comes close as soon as I have laid out the food and turned my back.
He and the missus have had two children with them recently - I don't think White Wing. The other two do have paler underwings and one seems to be the lookout who alerts the family to my arrival and is quite brave.
I left out the pot of treats, as I used to do for CD, to see what Divo would do. Divo had eaten from a pot before so I was pretty confident. I wondered about the others.
Warning: risk of boredom - it's a long video.
So, Grey Wing wasn't going to follow in his father's footsteps.
I mentioned that one of the Divine kids is a lookout: so is Four! He's been back and is the one who spots me - though he won't come near.
In a very CD-like pose there.
Twilight Crow.
The magpies have taken to feasting with the crows. Divo chases them away, but Three does not. The seagulls always get chased by the crows, although if they land in sufficient numbers, the crows decide that avoidance is the better part of valour.
Today a magpie flew off with a peanut and six gulls in hot pursuit. Magpies are not so fast on the wing and it had to duck and dive to evade them. Its mate suffered the same fate, but both got away. When the second was safely in the trees, I saw the first fly up vertically from another tree and drop back down - as though in celebration!
Lots of interesting behaviours going on with the crows -- with you, the cup and with the other birds. Good video. I like those lookout pics and the mention of CD.
What a wonderful post!!
